Hi ,

The above mentioned 2x8gb kit runs at 1333 mhz by default in the gigabyte motherboard , to run it at 1600 mhz i have to choose XMP Profile 1 , Before this i had Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8gb which ran at 1600 mhz without any bios tweaking , is this normal ? will choosing XMP 1 overclock the cpu ?

Looks like your mobo only supports up through 1600 so needs either manual or XMp to downclock the 1866 sticks to 1600, off hand don't think it should require much of a OC for 1600 if any
