  • Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (4x8) Help needed

I purchased this Ram and have not been able to set the speed over 1600 11.11.11.31
I've tried to set the speed to 1866 but have been having trouble. Are there any settings
I can use to help get the Ram up to at least 1866?

Yes the CPU is 1.5 but this ram is also 1.5 so I don't understand if there's a problem there.
I've tried many settings but the Bios reboots and resets to default when
there are any settings over 1600.

Could I get some ideas on what I need to do? Please help.

To be honest, I seriously doubt if their BIOS is even ready for 32GB, let alone 2133. First thing to do would be reset the CMOS (via battery removal or the mobo jumper), then insert all sticks and go to BIOS, should come up at 1600 (maybe 1333), enable XMP and select profile 1 and give it a try. If no joy, we'll have to try it manually, post up your system voltages (in particular the vCore (CPU), VCCSA, DRAM and the MC (memory controller) voltage (should be shown as VCCIO ot something like CPU/VTT). Also let us know the timing that XMP set in, both the base timings and the advanced/secondary

Ok. I'll post links to pics of the settings from Photobucket in about 15 min.

Here are the links to pics of the Bios.

I tried what you said and the bios reset like before. There must be some settings I'm missing to get 1866 at least.
These are the pics of the bios settings with the changes you ask me to perform. XMP Profile-1 failed.

No, BIOS doesn't look ready, might try manual CPU multiplier at 40, base timings at 11-11-11-31, CR 2T or 2N, DRAM voltage 1.55 (for now, we'll drop to 1.5 if this is stable, but may need the extra), VCCSA 1.2, VCCIO (or may be CPU VTT 1.2), then in the advanced timings try tWr 15, tRFC 278, tRRD 7, tWTR 8, tRTP 8, tFAW 24

I'll try that now. I'm thinking you are talking 1866?
            Thanks.

Go ahead and try 2133, if no joy, can drop and try 1866

Your settings worked and I'm just darned happy! So here's a couple things.

                ""EDIT: Ram set at 2133""

""tRFC 278"" tRFC only goes up to 255 so I set it there.

I couldn't find where you saw the VRam at 1.55 but I went ahead and set the V-Ram to 1.50
manually as you suggested in case you were seeing a setting "I couldn't find" according
to the pic links I posted.

                ""base timings at 11-11-11-31, CR 2T or 2N,"" I don't know what/where the (CR 2T or 2N) are.
I set the timing according to your suggestion anyway.

Can I clock back to 43? I was going to push it to 45 to test my CPU limit since
a CPU can't be judged until you push it to it's peak, then draw back to an allowable setting.

Thank you so very much. /Salute

Yep, you can OC higher, the tRFC issue has come up in a lot of mobos that are locked at a 255 max, there's sets out there like the higher end Tridents that reuire about 300-315. With the set you have 255 is good with the other timings, could even try tightening tWR to 14 and tRRD 6, tWTR 7, tRTP 7 for a pinch more performance, if so might need a little extra to the DRAM voltage + 0.03 ot 0.05, but you never know. Each system can vary from mobo to mobo and CPU to CPU

                    Great help, Tradesman

I tighted up the settings as you posted and all is well. Bumped up the DRam to 1.52 just to see, and it's stable. Thank you very much for your help. I posted my success on newegg for others in case they have a simular setup.
