  • Memory for Intel motherboard?

Looking for a recommendation for memory with the motherboard I plan to use. It will be paired with an Intel i5 2500k CPU
The motherboard is the Intel BOXDQ77MK

Computer will be used for general purpose internet, multi media, light photo editing.
Was looking to use 6 or 8 gigs of memory.

Any suggestions for G Skill memory

Think I'd suggest 1600/CL8 2x4GB, so prob one of these:

could go with a 1600/CL9 but the CL8 would be a bit better performance wise. This mobo is rated only up to 1600, so selection is somewhat limited, at the price, might want to consider a Z77 based mobo, which would provide for better overall performance as well as an upgrade path to the 3rd Gen CPUs like the 3570K or 3770K as well as for faster DRAM, most Z77s can take up to 2800 DRAM (paired w/ a 3rd gen CPU, though even the 2500K can easily run 32GB of 2133

With your recommendation of a Z77 based board, what do you think of these 2 boards? I'm building this computer for my mother and what's important for her is she doesn't want a large box. I was going to go with a smaller case, that's why I'm considering a micro ATX board (no video card to be used). Other important need for her is the computer doesn't generate too much heat for the room and it's quiet. I was thinking of using the Intel i5-3570k.

If these boards would work, what type memory 6-8 gigs would you recommend?
Computer will be used for general purpose internet, multi media, photo editing, no overclocking.

I'd lean to the ASRock personally, I've been using a lot of their mobos the last few years and my two main rigs are ASRock based (Z77X4/2570K/32GB 2400/CL10 Tridents, and a P67 Fatality/2500K/32GB 2133/CL9 Ripjaws X) and with the 3570K, if desired can easily run up to 2133 (maybe 2400 if you get a good 3570K like I was lucky to pick up). For 8GB there's a wide selection of sets depending on the freq and budget - I'd look to set of 1866/2133 with a CL9 or better, or maybe 1600 at CL8
