  • DDR3-2400 not compatible with Asus Sabertooth X58 ?

    Hello,

I just bought a new RAM kit : F3-2400C10Q-16GTX but it seems to be uncompatible with my motherboard (Asus Sabertooth X58). The PC is not able to boot. Is that a known problem? I set correctly all timings in BIOS. I set voltage to 1.65V. BIOS has been flashed with latest available version.

But nothing to do, I'm unable to boot with this kit, even if I plug only 2 or 3 sticks (in the right slots, of course). So I plan to exchange this RAM kit by another one. But which one should I buy? I just want 16 GB of RAM and a high RAM frequency, as DDR3-2400 or DDR3-2000.

By the way, my old RAM kit is a Corsair 6GB DDR3-2000 (CMX6GX3M3A2000C9) and it works very well. I'm disappointed to see that I can't change it by a G.Skill kit.

Problem here is, your mobo is only rated to 1866 DRAM and to be honest, don't think any of the 1366 CPU could even start to run 2400 sticks. To run 16GB I'd go 1866, not sure you'd be able to run that much @2000 or higher. The Ripjaws Z set F3-14900CL8Q-16GBZM would give the best performance at CL8, here are the 1866 16GB sets

You are right about the limit of my motherboard. My current kit (3x2GB, DDR3-2000) run at 1866 Mhz. I would be happy to run at the same speed with 2x8GB (or even 4x4GB but that seems to be less stable). But all kits I found are only compatible with new chipsets (6th and 7th Intel chipset generations).

I read this page to review your proposal : http://gskill.com/products.php?index=463 But as all other kits I saw, no X58 chipset is listed in the qualified motherboards list. Are you sure this kit is compatible with Asus Sabertooth X58 ? If yes, I will order it right now.

All right, your mobo has once again limited your options, the X58 can run up to 6 sticks, but the Max is 24GB - so you are limited to 1,2 or 4 GB sticks - 8 GB sticks won't work - so back to 4x4GB to go 16GB or drop to a native X58 set (3 stick 3x4GB and 12GB (or go more)). Seen this set run fine on another X58, the P6X58-E PRO, with only a slight DRAM voltage increase

All right ! My seller does not have F3-14900CL8Q-16GBZM in his stock but he has this one : http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/23...6GBZL/G.SKILL/

Is it the same ? (apart the timings) Can I opt for this kit ?
