    Hey guys, this is my first build so this might be a stupid question but I see the note at the bottom of the product page saying that if you want the ram to run at its rated speed you must enable XMP. What speed will it run at if you do not enable XMP?

    ASUS P9X79 Pro Mobo
    I7 3820 Sandy Bridge CPU

    You can set them up manually, but generally if the mobo BIOS is ready for 32GB it's much, much easier to go XMP, if not using XMP prob looking at 1600 with that mobo (the mobos default)

      Thanks for the quick reply. 1600 is what I was hoping for and also hoping to run everything stock unless I really feel the need for more performance.

          hi

          your mobo is capable for the 1866Mhz/32GB as well, if you don't enable XMP or manual tweak the setting in BIOS , it may run 1333Mhz/1600Mhz by default, usually 8GB stick will run as 1333Mhz!
