  • gskill memory compatibility with q77 chipset

    Hello all,

I am looking for the following mainboard (I need a q77 chipset mainboard)

    Mainboard: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/...rd-dq77mk.html

    Memory Information: http://www.intel.com/support/motherb...m?wapkw=dq77mk

It says: 32 GB maximum total system memory (with 4 Gb memory technology)

Does it means that 8GB memory has to be double-ranged?

Do you know if the following memory (2x8) is compatible (I already have it)?

    Thank you!

Would think it should work fine, since you have the sticks, give them a try. From the document you ref, looks like for 8GB sticks they want DS/DD only

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

      Hello Tradesman

Thank you for the quick answer. I don't have the mainboard yet, so I can't try it unless I finally decide to get it.

As you said it seems that supported 8GB sticks should be double-sided, do you know if the memory I have is double-sided (DS)?

      Thank you!

          Sure!

I got an i5-3550 (vpro, vt, quad core), actually it was working perfectly (esxi 5) but the mainboard (asus p8Z77-V LE) does't support vpro.

Now I am moving it to Q77 chipset system and I am chosing between:
          Asus P8Q77-M
          Intel DQ77MK

They are very similar and I think that the decission really depends on the best manufacturer, any recommendation?

I'd lean towards Asus, the Intel mobos are rather staid and don't lean towards higher end, if you ever decide to upgrade DRAM or CPU, they are sort of restrictive, i.e. 1600 is the max freq they support...While some adjustments can be made, they are on the limited side.
