  • Compatibility check

    hello.

i am wanting to pair this:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-067-GS

    with this:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MB-489-AS

Your compatibility list clearly shows that the 4x8gb sticks are ok, but mentions nothing about the 8x4, even though you do list the varying frequency denominations of this particular range (the red ones).

    so, is it gonna work?

    cheers.

Should be fine, might take a slight MC voltage adjustment over and above just enabling XMP.

In that area, yes probably, may not need any at all. They've updated the BIOS a couple times since I last laid hands on one, havve even seen people running 2133 on the mobo, and believe it's still only rated to 1866

the ASUS SABTOOTH X79 should be able to work with the 1866 Q2-32GB as well, but the CPU VCCSA may needs to be set as 1.25v, please note.

indeed it is rated at 1866, however, their QVL lists several 2000s, 2133s and 2400s (i think one of them is the trident)

edit: these dimms i'm asking about aren't on their QvL either. which is why i made this post, as the two objects seem to be oblivious of one another's existence xD

For the most part most mobo manufacturers only test with whatever sticks they have available (one reason you may see sticks listed that aren't even in production anymore) and they most often just 'test' the sticks at 1333 or 1600 whatever the mobo/BIOS default is. Might look at info post for more info here:
