  • F2-8500CL5D-2GBPK questions...

    Hi,

    After a RMA, I've just installed my new set on a P45 MB (Asus P5Q-E).
    The new set is single-sided at the opposite of the defective.
    Is there any advantage or inconvenient?

    I have also an old set double-sided on a X38 MB (Asus P5E).
    On the two PCs with a E8400 processor, the RAM runs fine (without Memtest error) at 1066Mhz and 5-5-5-15 (manually set).
    When I compar the defaults set by the MB, I find a tRFC=42 on the X38 MB and a tRFC=52 on the P45 MB.
    I have also a performance level =7 on the X38 and =6 on P45.

    Have I to change something into the BIOS?

    Thanks for your help.

    My guess would be a design change to higher density chips, no big deal, different sticks will often vary in the advanced timings such as tRFC

      OK, thanks.

      For my first question, the RMA service told me they are not sure about the compatibility to have 2 SS and 2 DS sticks on the same MB...

      For my second question, I'd like to understand which timing come from the RAM SPD (OK for CL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS, at least), and which ones come from BIOS/NB.
      I have a doubt on the default tRFC=42 mentioned above...

        At times, I've have problems mixing them, but not generally....as far as the SPD goes, I don't have any of these sticks to where I could take a look at them, GSkill should be in later today and they'll know better in that area.

          OK, the SPD, seen from Aida64, is the following:

          Old DS sticks:
          @400MHz : 5-5-5-15/23-42-3-6-3-3
          @533Mhz : 5-5-5-15/47-?-?-12-?-?

          New SS sticks:
          @400MHz : 5-5-5-15/24-51-3-6-3-3
          @533Mhz : 5-5-5-15/48-?-?-13-?-?

          I really don't understand where the tRFC, I mentionned above, comes from !?

          For the X38 MB, it appears coming from 400MHz
          For the P45 MB, I don't know...

            All timings come from memory modules. Sometimes they may be slightly different because of BIOS.

            Thank you
