  • It is the RAM running OK?

    Hi to everybody!!!

    THE SYSTEM:
    CPU: Phenom X4 9550
    MB: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...ALiveNF6P-VSTA
BIOS: American Megatrends P1.50 (latest one)
    RAM: G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
    OS: WXP SP3
Memory Clock is Bios properly set at 533/DDRII1066 and Timings at 5-5-5-15.

According to CPU-Z, the DRAM freq of 533 Mhz seems to be ok:

But memory is displayed as PC2-6400 (400 Mhz) instead of PC2-8500 (533 Mhz):

So I wonder if the RAM is running okay?..........My knowledge is limited so help and tips are most welcome, Thanks.

Yes, it shows as 8500/1066 the 6400 is the default of the mobo

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

      Thanks Tman,

When you say "it shows as 8500/1066", where is it?.............Are you referring to the DRAM freq 535.8 Mhz. that appears at the Memory tab of CPUZ ?

And when you refer to 6400 as the default of the mobo, take into account that the DRAM clock is not Bios set in "Auto", it is set in 533/DDR21066.

The 533 is the frequency of the stick and these are DDR (Double Data Rate), so 533 * 2 = 1066

Anyway I ran 3 passes Memtest86 v3.5a with no errors at all

          But Memtest displayed these settings:
          RAM: 533Mhz (DDR1067)/CAS: 5-3-3-3-33/DDR-2 Dual
although I have Bios CAS timings set at 5-5-5-15.....Do you know why?

Might be a glitch because you're using such an old version memtest..

            Thank you

I just ran some passes with the latest Memtest v4.10 and again no errors, but settings reported this time as CAS: 8-5-5-15 (instead of 5-5-5-15 as Bios setting), and now ads "64bits" to the DDR2 description.

Anyway the system seems to be very stable with no blue screen shots at all.

Thanks so much to both for the support.

No problem, may just be that it's an AMD system and Memtest is designed for Intel systems, with some mobos and some CPUs, sometimes get weird readings...might want to try a program called Speccy
