Same problem here!
MB: Gigabyte P35-DS4, BIOS F14
CPU: E5300 (@default clock and FSB)
PSU: Corsair 520HX
What I've tried...
2 x 2GB - waking up from S3 doesn't work (endless reboot cycle)
1 x 2GB - waking up from S3 works perfectly
1 x 1GB - waking up from S3 works perfectly
2 x 1GB - waking up from S3 works perfectly
3 x 1GB - waking up from S3 works perfectly
4 x 1GB - waking up from S3 doesn't work (endless reboot cycle)
I've tried to add +0.3V to RAM, FSB, MCH and 0.2V to CPU (at the same time), but that didn't change anything.
It seems to me that the problem isn't with count of RAM sticks, than with count of GB. With 4 or more gigabytes waking up from S3 sate doesn't work.
