  • Motherboard and Memory Compatibility

Currently I have an EliteGroup (ECS) Motherboard, model MCP61PM-AM.

    http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERB...6157Rsp2.shtml

    I'm hoping to upgrade the memory to either a 2 x 2G stick configuration or a 4 x 1G stick configuration.

The only problem is I'm unsure if my motherboard will be able to support the 2GB sticks.

I'm unable to get the manual for my mobo if your wondering, so that's not possible.

ALSO, the model number isn't even listed on the EliteGroup website, so I'm unable to check for more specific specifications there.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

Not positive but it looks like it's 1GB per slot or 4 total, will try and find a manual

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:

        -edit-

Hmm, get Everest and check motherboard chipset information page. Usually the amount maximums apply on 'controller basis'. Meaning 4x1GB = 4 slots and 2x2GB 2 slots different controllers = 2GB per controller would do. The chipset MCP61P also supports high memory amounts on it's own some even 16GB so, if it's something it's ECS setups faulting.

perhaps best idea still would be to ask ECS support e-mail.

            uhh where's this from everest..
            ""Maximum Memory Amount 8 GB""

which was the only value from everest needed. You can get v4.60 Everest registered free, if you google it up. Basically if controller total is 2GB (2 controllers = 4GB total). those blocks should work just fine. However, since I do not know as I said this board I suggest you contact the ECS support & simply ask that's that.
