  • F2-8500CL5D-2GBPK on BIOSTAR TA790GXE 128M

    Hello,

    F2-8500CL5D-2GBPK
    BIOSTAR TA790GXE 128M
    AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Processor
    Antec Earthwatts 430 watts

I built a new rig and cannot get the memory stable. I am getting BSOD, random restarts and freezing in Windows XP. I might have bad sticks cause even if I manually set the settings or auto it fails memtest86+ on test 5 & 6.

    Below are my current settings:

    VOLTAGE CONFIGURATION

    CPU Over Voltage [START-UP]
    Memory Over Voltage [2.10V]
    Chipset Over Voltage [1.20V]
    HT Over Voltage [1.20V]
    Side Port Voltage [1.80V]

    MEMORY CONFIGURATION

    Memory Clock Mode [MANUAL]
    Memclock Value [DDR2-1066]
    DRAM Timing Mode [DCT 0]
    CAS Latency (CL) [5 CLK]
    2T Command [2T]
    TRCD [5 CLK]
    TRP [5 CLK]
    tRTP [3-5 CLK]
    TRAS [15 CLK]
    TRC [24 CLK]
    tWR [8 CLK]
    TRRD [4 CLK]
    tWTR [4 CLK]
    tRFC0 [127.5ns]
    tRFC1 [127.5ns]
    tRFC2 [127.5ns]
    tRFC3 [127.5ns]

Please let me know if my settings are off. Thanks in advance and I appreciate the help.

      Thanks for the response Tradesman!

Would this be 105ns or 195ns?

        Try the following settings:

        CPU Over Voltage [START-UP]
        Memory Over Voltage [2.10V]
        Chipset Over Voltage [1.20V]
        HT Over Voltage [1.30V]
        Side Port Voltage [1.80V]

        MEMORY CONFIGURATION

        Memory Clock Mode [MANUAL]
        Memclock Value [DDR2-1066]
        DRAM Timing Mode [Both]
        CAS Latency (CL) [5 CLK]
        2T Command [2T]
        TRCD [5 CLK]
        TRP [5 CLK]
        tRTP [3-5 CLK]
        TRAS [15 CLK]
        TRC [30 CLK]
        tWR [8 CLK]
        TRRD [4 CLK]
        tWTR [4 CLK]
tRFC0 [127.5ns] if no go, try 195ns for all 4.
        tRFC1 [127.5ns]
        tRFC2 [127.5ns]
        tRFC3 [127.5ns]

          For 2GB I'd try 105

I tried it with 105ns and 195ns and still errors out at test # 5 & 6 in memtest86+ 2.10. But, in memtest the settings are 433(866) CAS 0-5-1 / DDR 1 (128 bits), does this make a difference if it does not recognize the RAM correctly?

            Any other suggestions?

It can, yes, memtest is designed for the x86 architecture, you could try a different version or two.
