  • F2-4200PHU2-2BGSA on dell 9300

I just tried to upgrade my memory on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop by replacing both memory modules with:

2x 1024 MB DDR2 533 PC2-4200 (F2-4200PHU2-2BGSA) memory modules that i got from egghead.com. (i was told that these would work with my laptop)

The system does not seem to boot up at all. I see the harddrive light come on and then immediately goes back off while the lock icon with an "A" in it continuously blinks.

the memory that I am replacing reads:
    Samsung PC2 - 4200S 44-12-A3 512MB on the sticker.

I have tried using one module and that did not help.
When I use the old 512 Module in slot A and one of the G.skill modules in slot B then it boots up and recognizes 1500 MB of RAM.

I have upgraded my BIOS to revision A5.

my system config is below: (not sure where to get the model of my motherboard)

Can someone please help me with this problem so that i can use both of the G.skill modules in my laptop?

Did you make sure the power cord wasn't plugged in and the battery was disconnected? Also want to be sure the DIMMs are properly inserted in the slots (Slot A first) and that they 'click' when they lock in. Cover should go on easily.

Pls offer comments on support I provide, HERE, in order to help me do a better job here:
