Make sure you run the benchmark with full power management mode, so plug in your power cord. Most notebooks revert back to SATA1 when on batery to save power...

Tonight I started playing with differences between IDE and AHCI. After enabling AHCI as per the Microsoft Knowledgebase (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976) things became interesting.
1. Access time increased from 0.1ms to 0.2ms
2. CPU Utilisation increased
3. Burst rate dropped
4. Speeds dropped
5. I switched back to IDE to see the difference
6. Performance became erratic with the minimum dropping from 190 MB/s to 61MB/s and the HDTune graph was all over the place.
7. I ran my first TRIM command as an experiment
8. Mimimum transfer speed increased to 71 MB/s, maximum jumped to almost 240 MB/s and burst jumped to almost 188 MB/s. This is under IDE mode with access time back to 0.1ms and CPU Utilisation at 1.4%
9. Switched back to ACHI to notice slower access time, burst rate and increase CPU Utilisation. Minimum jumped up to 97 MB/s but maximum was down to 218 MB/s.
10. I then ran my second TRIM command and under AHCI the minimum speed under AHCI went back up to 190MB/s but maximum speed will not go over 218MB/s. Access time remains at 0.2ms with higher CPU Utilisation.cutting edge?

That's the only way you can do it. (Just dump the wiper.exe into your root C:\ and run it) To clarify, the Wiper utility must be on the SSD you are currently using.
Make a backup just in case...there have been some reports of data being wiped.cutting edge?
