Dual Falcon 128gb in Raid 0

My system setup is as follows:

      Core I7 920 Running @ 3.72ghz
Gigabyte UD4P motherboard with chipset overclocks.
      12GB of OCZ Blade Memory (2GBx6 Dimm) DDR3 @ 2100Mhz
      2 G.Skill Falcon (128GB drives-Raid 0 with 128kb stripe size with Onboard X58 Control Board) Firmware 13xx
4 OCZ Vertex EX 128GB drives in Raid 0
      2 ATI X2 Graphics Cards
      Corsiar 1000Watt PSU
      Auzentech Soundcard
Western Digital 640GB Caviar Black -Storage Drive

I have run a test with HDTach.... Please read my comment below, My results are as follows.

**Keep in mind my Onboard Chipset is flooded due to a OCZ SSD Array already stressing the chipset. I am unable to idle these drives since they are a system set.. What you are really seeing is a maxed out chipset raid controller. I used to get significantly slower speeds before i pumped up the chipset clock speed. Moral of the story do not put 6-SSD's (4-OCZ Vertex EX 128GB drives in Raid-0 and 2 G.Skill 128GB Falcons Raid 0) on a stock chipset raid controller, it simply cant handle the speed.**

      Burst Speed: 3267.7 MB/s
      Random Access: 0.1ms
      CPU Utilization: 4% [+/- 2%]
      Average Read: 545.9 MB/s

        That's insane...why would you have 2x 128BG Falcon in RAID 0 *AND* 4x 128GB Vertex in RAID 0 lol...

I would recommend you get this ASAP:

there was a major increase of 25mb/s increase when AHCI was enabled (from 225mb/s --> 250mb/s). think something might've gone wrong there

Here is mine, Falcon 128Gig RAID 0

                      onboard RAID, ICH10R
64k stripe, 64k offset (was actually a clone of my previous windows on raptor 74gig raid 0, not a fresh install)
                      Vista 64bit SP2

                          Vista 64-bit SP2
IDE mode, all drives formatted to NTFS, 4K allocation unit size. No RAID, ICH9R controller for all drives.
My Falcon (firmware 1571) was formatted with 4K cluster size and an offset of 128.

The "Seagate 250GB" is an older generation 7200RPM drive, I'm too lazy to look up the model number (UPDATE: The drive is actually a Seagate 7200.10). I included this in case anyone with a 1-2 year old 7200RPM drive is wondering how much better the newest drives do.

My Ramdrive results (especially the random access speeds) were probably CPU bottlenecked, I saw my CPU utilization max out when this test was running (unlike while testing the other drives).

The Hitachi 7K1000 is the noisiest, and possible louder than all the other drives put together. Among the HDDs, the WD Green is the most silent. Of course, nothing compares to the blissful silence of the Falcon (or the Ramdrive). UPDATE: The Seagate 7200.12 also runs coolest (not counting the Falcon, of course), running 5-8 C cooler than even the WD Green.

The Seagate 7200.12 and WD Green are ~$90 and the Hitachi 7K1000.B is ~$70 at this point of time, to the best of my knowledge.

hey guys, idk how.. but i did some overclocking with my CPU, RAM, & GPU over the past 5 days. and i decided to see how my SSD performed and it increased by quite a lot. was dying from depression cause everyone reached the 250mb/s mark whilst i was at 230 (okay i wasn't dying) but now i've reached 250 myself :O

Nice work. Yeah I overclocked my Q9550 to 3.4GHz took me a few days. I was trying for 3.6GHz but only got stable if I underclocked my ram.

Now the big test is when I eventually get another 128GB in Raid 0 (when I can afford it).
