  • Firmware 4.0 decreased write performance

I am wondering why the write performance on my Phoenix Pro 120 took such a hit when upgrading to 4.0 from 3.2? I used firmware A, have Intel RST 10.1 installed. Using AS SSD my Seq Write dropped from 131.31 MB/s to 59.24 and the 4K-64Thrd from 115.40 MB/s to 78.49. Everything else seemed to be the same. Using Windows 7-64x.

Hi, you can try the 2 solutions, and following the steps as below, but don't forget backup your data as well.

    solution A: http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=6829

Those are very similar to the numbers I'm getting. I have not had the chance to backup all the data and reload Win 7 - hoping for a better fix, or maybe the next firmware update.

          Hi mauro

Actually it was not firmware problem, I checked your score, you tested at different time.
The second one drops because you have already used for a while.
I know 2.1 is better than 4.0 for performance but 4.0 fixed lots of bug that we don't noticed it.
          I recommend using FW 4.0
By the way, it is up to you.

          ^^

I haven't had a single problem with my phoenix 120GB SSD since purchase in august of 2010. In fact, it's far more stable than any HDD I've had to date. Using firmware 2.1 (came with purchased drive). I was contemplating the upgrade, but after reading such forum posts as these, I'll hold back on the update.
