anyone know if garbage collection (gc) only works when idle at the windows logon screen or does it also work when sitting idle on windows desktop?

that doesn't clearly answer my question. when logged into windows, other apps/services are running in the background even though it may be idling. when at the windows logon screen, those apps/services aren't running. some people have it setup to auto log into windows and others require a username/password.
your statement disregards any situation. you're simply saying that as long as you turn on your pc and don't touch it, then gc will kick in.
the reason why i ask is because i want to know if gc will work regardless of any apps/services running in the background as long as it's idle.
