Howdy,
In 2009, I bought 2 of the original FM-25S2S-64GB (MLC) and raided them as the boot disc in a HTPC. They worked well originally, but stuttering and overall performance became progressively worse to the point I decided to rebuild the machine with newer SSD as boot disks.
Now I am looking to see if there is a way to "reset" and reuse the old drives as storage for read only music files.
From the research I have done, it sounds like the original jmicron drives won't work with Secure Erase ala HDDerase etc. Please correct me if I am in error.
Are there options other than secure erase to reclaim performance on these drives? If so what are they and how do I do it?!! Or are they destined to be expensive door stops?
Thanks,
Ryan
