Hey everyone, ssd noob here with a couple questions about raid 0.

I currently have the phoenix FM-25S2S-120GBP1 ssd.

    1. Can this ssd be put into a raid 0 with the pro series ssd or the sniper gaming series?

    2. Since Trim commands aren't passed through raid is there another way to ensure the performance of the drives does not degrade?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kaileb

P1 can set RAID 0 with P2 or sinper.
just choose same capacity is better.

you can use secure erase if you got performance drop.

so basically, these drives don't support trim in raid mode and they don't have gc (garbage collection) capabilities built in? g.skill's best solution to this is to secure erase for each time to get ssd back to its original running state?! so is g.skill working on a utility that'll enable trim/gc for raid mode? other ssd company's have trim/gc for raid mode, why not g.skill?

        Hi taipan,

as we knows, the problem is chip, not controller issue.
Sand force controller has already supported TRIM.
you can check Intel spec, RAID array would not support trim.

looks like there's much debate on whether the new intel drivers support trim/gc in raid mode. i have amd raid chipset and there's no indication that there's any trim/gc in their chipset either. hope intel and amd can get their act together to formulate some kind of tool to utilize these drive-saving capabilities in raid arrays.

on the upside, if you've got a non-critical system then starting from scratch every few months wouldn't be too bad.
