Increase overprovisioning with unallocated space?

If I reduce the disk space of my Phoenix Pro from 120GB to 100GB, the unallocated space (20GB) will be automatically used for the overprovisioning function?

if you just use partition doing that, I think it is not useful.
the SSD controller still think it is 120GB.
only special tool can change this reserve area.

I know that my 120GB is a 128GB with a reserved area for overprovisioning, but I thought I could increase this area because I think I'll never use all of the disk space (for example to have a 100GB disk version with 28GB of reserved area).
