  • Dead falcon 2 64g?

    Looking for options here.
Just got home from work, bios cant see drive, second pc cant see drive in a caddy unless it has the factory jumper on.

I'd really like to recover my data.
    1. try firmware update - lose data
    2. rma drive - lose data
    3. ??

As you list, you could only choose one of them to get your SSD work, but we has no tool to recover your data.
Due to SSD's characteristic, the data could not be recovered once it get defective.

      Why are these so unreliable?

Every time that a new generation NAND flash comes, it's a challenge to controllers.
Controllers have to change the firmware to manage new flash well.
Falcon II uses intel 34 nm flash which is newer then Falcon uses Samsung 50 nm.
I think indilinx is keeping improving their firmware.

          I'm pretty disappointed.
I'd had it for three months sitting behind conditioned power and cooling.
Being able to see it in config mode, to me, points to an internal fault and from reading here and other forums, it seems common.

Yet my data is gone with no warning and while waiting for the retailer to rma it (up to 8 weeks) I had to buy a replacement drive.

Cant see myself using the rma drive once it arrives as a primary. Cant trust it. Arnt ssd's supposed to be MORE reliable?
