  • Can't manage to install windows 7 vanilla on Phoenix 120GB SSD.

as title says, i am having issues completing a full installation of windows 7 on my new SSD from g.skill. I don't think the HDD is at fault but if there are any tips or tricks anyone in this community would know of, please oh pretty please lemme know.

I tried using my OEM disc, I tried using a USB bootable drive using the files from my OEM disc I purchased. Should I install vista, then upgrade the vista installation to windows 7? I heard that way to install 7 was successful but are there any ways around that? I'm formatting the SSD through vista (NTFS 4KB allocation size). Is this the best way to ensure a clean install of windows 7 x64 ultimate?

my apologies for not posting my hardware.

AMD phenom ii x2 555 black edition processor 3.2 ghz
      g.skill flare series DDR3-1800 CL7-8-7-24 memory
      g.skill Phoenix SSD 120GB
Sapphire radeon 4870x2 w/ accelero cooler installed

On last step of windows installation (completing installation), it hangs and doesn't progress in to the actual OS but other steps work without a hitch. However, my vista disc runs fine 100%. Thank you for the quick reply to assist, vaca.

I managed to get it installed perfectly. My original disc got scratched (dunno how to be honest) so I went online and downloaded win7 from a trusted site using my product key. I'm online now. I'm sorry to take up your time, vaca but since this was my first time using a SSD in my machine I had concerns mine might've came faulty. Should've known better since I did buy this SSD from g.skill.... not a single thing I bought with their logo on it has failed on me yet.
