  • DDR5 Operating Temperature

Hi all, I have just purchased some 6000 cl30 expo rgb 32gb ram from G.Skill and was wondering what the normal operating temperature is and what the upper safe limit is?

I have seen info around that generalises that ram can operate safely in the 40° Celsius range but above 50° can cause system crashing.

Normal operating temps can be 40-60C depending on load and ambient temperature. Any higher is better with a cooler.

Okay thanks, that is good to know.

Hi there, is that 60 C the SPD hub temperature or the real hotspot temperature where igor's lab reported can be 12-17 degrees hotter??

I found that in my PC, maybe due to the Noctua NH-U12A blocking some air flow or robbing the air into it, the closer module have HWinfo 64 showing max SPD hub temp at 58C degrees while the other is 54, worrying if it will make my f5-6000j3238g32gx2-tz5rk ram dies prematurely... I already downvolt it to 1.25v running ddr 5600, ambient is 24C

One of my sticks randomly jumps to 63.8 degrees for a millisecond at times when gaming. Am a bit worried about that. Otherwise 45 is about the maximum I see.

what's your ambient? and was that the SPD hub temp? I am wondering if I could get a ram fan for this as I have 2 packs of 64gb kit DDR5 5600 CL30 died on me within a month and I start to wonder if it's the reported hotspot being +12C to the spd hub sensor, and that GSkill apparently don't have thermal pad on the PMIC making the chip cook itself and die prematurely

I only have the one temp for each ram stick, ambient is usually between 24 - 26

I find that funny at ram torture tests like AIDA64 or prime 95 my max temp is around 45C-47C with ambient ~24C, but once gaming with the 3070Ti in full load the card just cooks the ram and it goes to 56-58C max even with 1.25V

I noticed the same reading - 63.8C in HWiNFO when stress testing my memory on one of the sticks. I found somewhere on the internet that it must be some sensor/spd bug.

I used to get the exact same temp spike when gaming but have not for a long time now. Are you on the latest version of hwinfo?
