Hello,
I have been struggling for 2 months with BSOD and my new computer system. I am hoping someone can help me or that I should RMA my sticks of RAM.
MB: Asrock B550 Extreme 4
CPU: RYZEN 5 3600 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.2 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 65W 100-100000031
RAM:Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin RGB (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZN
Symptoms:
Random BSOD - I cannot recreate the BSOD and no one action so far causes them. 90% of the time it is in windows environment and a few times happens while gaming. I can be playing a game for 2 hours, exit the game, and in windows it crashes. BSOD range a bunch, mainly "unexpected kernal mode trap". The past day it is "Driver Verifier detection violation". Also, it can go for days with no crash and then some days 4 crashes in one day.
Things I have tried:
1) MB FW - updated from 1.10 to 1.70 to 1.80 - still BSOD
2) Windows memory test and mem86+ pass with no problems
3) Switched sticks in the MB slots - still BSOD
4) SFC command - still BSOD
5) Memory temp looks good
6) BIOS setting - XMP doesn't work, but using 2133 still doesn't work. I have tried "auto" vs 2133. I have tried lower XMP like 3000 - still issues
7) DRAM voltage - for 2133 it shows 1.192V and I have gone up to 1.208V.
8) Drivers and windows seem up to date. I have reset the Windows Driver Verifier yesterday.
Things that I have NOT tried:
1) using 1 stick to see if it is 1 or the other or both that cause BSOD.
2) Full Windows reinstall
3) have not tried to boot and sit in safe mode
4) Manual memory timing - should I try this?
5) Infinity fabric setting have not tried to change
Questions:
1) I know this RAM is not on the QVL list, but I bought it because it was supposed to be good with Ryzen. It seems difficult to get RAM that is on the QVL, so should I just buy new RAM?
2) Is Trident NEO not suggested for B550 from GSkill?
3) Should I RMA?
Thank you very much!
