  • NEW Vs OLD RAM kits for 5000 series

Hey all, there has been an announcement from Gskill for releasing new Neo line ram for the 5000 series, [link]. I was wondering if anyone had some insight for how it mentioned to be specifically for 5000 series, does this matter? I'm looking at the 8GB x 4 3800 16-19-19-39 right now, but saw that there is also a even lower latency {already released) quad kit but are for the 3000 series CPU.

Would anyone here mind explaining what the differences are ?

Does Neo line actually matter? Or is it purely aesthetic/ branding?

    Thanks!

I have not noticed any new kits but I believe my existing Flare X will work with Ryzen 5000 as well as it does with all my AM4 processors.
    Corsair Carbide 300R & TX850V2
    Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
    AMD Phenom II X4 965 C3 Black Edition 125W
    G.SKILL F3-17000CL11-4GBXL + Micron 8KTF25664AZ-1G6M1
EVGA GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature 2
    Asus PA238QR

NEO memory profiles are ideal for AMD platforms, however it does not mean only NEO kits will work or NEO kits will not work for Intel platforms. In any case, for guaranteed results, follow the G.Skill QVL or RAM Configurator. Many older kits can definitely work, especially if they are designed for AMD. However there are some kits that may not run at full speed yet and will need a BIOS upgrade before doing so which is why some kits are listed for the Ryzen 3000 but not 5000. Over time as BIOS matures compatibility will be significantly improved.

Any ETA on the 16GBx2 4000mhz CL16 ram for Ryzen 5000 announced 11/5? Dark Hero board comes in next week and this RAM is the last piece of the puzzle.
