  • Defective stick? F4-3200C16D-32GTZRX

Recently bought these from newegg along with the other components of this system:

    cpu: Ryzen 3900x
    mobo: MSI x570-A PRO
    gpu: Gigabyte 2070s
    ssd: Samsung 970 evo plus
    ram: Trident Z RGB, 16x2 @3200 (16-18-18-38) 1.35v

    Description of problems:

Ram works fine at 2133 clock speed (the default), but I have not been able to get both sticks running at 3200, for which they are advertised and rated. Activating XMP profile causes a non-post scenario, with cmos reset being required. Manually tweaking the clock speed and setting the voltage (tried both 1.35v and 1.36v) results in the same problems...

When I try the sticks one at a time, one of them works perfectly at 3200, but the other one causes a very quick system crash (on windows loading screen) or possibly prevents booting entirely.

To summarize, they work fine together at the default clock, but they do not work together at 3200. One of the sticks does work at 3200, but the other does not (full disclosure, i only tried booting with only the possibly defective RAM twice because I dont want to risk damaging my other components, and because the other stick works fine).

I have gotten very friendly with applying a butter-knife to my cmos reset pins, and spent around 10 hours trying to get the sticks to work together @ 3200.

I'm at my wits end. What should I do?

Is it possible that I need to put the voltage all the way up to 1.4 in order to run at the rated speed of 3200?

I would really appreciate some guidance on what my options are (if any exist) other than returning them to newegg.

If the stick is indeed defective, must I ship both sticks of the kit to G.Skill? I guess I should contact the return department for inquiry/

System catches bootloop already at 3000Mhz 16-18-18-18-38, boots at 3000Mhz 22-26-26-26-42, but unstable.
Further increase frequency and timings, also XMP profile (@3200 16-18-18-18-38) - bootloop =(
Timings and other params, calculated with Ryzen DRAM Calculator by 1usmus in safe mode - also bootloop =(
      Best stable result - 2866Mhz 14-16-16-16-36

I do not yet have the possibility to test the each module individually because of the cooler BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4, which I have to remove every time to extract DIMMs.
I have no idea how to run this mem modules at XMP profile...
Help us and how does the RMA work in Russia?

          Hello!
After a two week wait, I contacted G.Skill technical support and described the situation, they sent a RMA number to send the memory. When I removed the memory modules from the slots, I decided to test their operation on the XMP profile separately. The memory started fine separately in different slots. Then I just inserted both modules together and it worked! Moreover, the memory works at 3466@16-18-20-20-40 !!!

Hello! Thank you, volart. But your advice don`t helped to me. The one of the stick run on XMP, but only once, at senond time PC don`t start, I tried to run in manual mod and DOCP - result is one.
