  • Trident Z Gigabyte Aorus Z390 compatibility

Hi, I'm just wondering about the qualified vendor list (QVL) for this memory:

    Trident Z
    DDR4-3200MHz CL16-18-18-38 1.35V
    16GB (2x8GB)
    F4-3200C16D-16GTZKW

In the QVL for Gigabyte Z390 it says: "Z390 AORUS ELITE (rev. 1.0)".
Why the rev 1.0 thing? What if I buy a new Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ELITE today and it's a newer revision than 1.0? Will the memory above not be compatible then?

    Cheers, thanks

The QVL states the revision of the motherboard that was tested in the lab. If there ever is a newer revision of the MB, compatibility might differ. However usually memory supports gets better and not worse compared with earlier revisions.

Sure, but it does so only for the Gigabyte Z390 boards and not the Z390 boards from the other manufacturers. Which is partly why I was curious.

Good point. So I should be safe I suppose.
