  • 2 x 16GB vs. 4 x 8GB

    I have a PC with an Asus Prime X299 Deluxe motherboard, Intel i9 7900X CPU and G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 memory .

I have been told that I would get better overall performance if I had 4x8GB memory modules instead of the 2x16GB. If I changed from 2x16GB to 4x8GB would the overall performance increase be:

    Not noticeable
    Barely noticeable
    Noticeable
    Significant

    Thanks.

Going with quad channel offers double the memory performance of dual channel at the same frequency/timings. So the benefits of 4x8GB over 2x16GB on X299 with Skylake X are very real and significant.
