  • Are models equivalent if their reference is mostly the same? (+these precise models?)

    Hello,

I'm about to buy a new computer with MB AsRock Taichi x399 and CPU Threadripper 2950X.

Here is the motherboard certified RAM compatibility (select G.Skill): https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/X399%2...dex.asp#Memory
It includes F4-3200C14D-32GTZR, F4-3200CL14Q-32GFX, this precise reference is not available at my supplier/shop: but they have things like (note that I would prefer a non-RGB ram) but they have references lik : F4-3200C14D-32GTZKW. Are models like F4-3200C14D-32GTZR and F4-3200C14D-32GTZKW equivalent in different colours, or may be different?

Here is actually the shop's list for F4-3200C14D
    https://www.microcity.be/webshop/sea...ch=F4-3200C14D
    And for F4-3200C14Q
    https://www.microcity.be/webshop/sea...ch=F4-3200C14Q
I am targetting low latency (14 if possible), 32 GB, non-RGB, keeping some room for extra RAM in the future.

Also I was initially targetting dual channel, but I recently realized that x399 was quad channel, so would there be a real difference going for 4 sitcks instead of 2?

    Regards

Yes, with 4 modules they are matched and tested from factory to run at the rated specs. If you purchase 16GB kits, only each 16GB set is tested together so you run a risk if using multiple kits in a single computer.
