I recently got a 16gb DDR4 kit (F4-2666C15-4GRR), ASUS X99-A and 5820k.
In Bios, when I insert the memory's rated speed (2666mhz) and other settings (timings 15-15-15-35 & Voltage 1.20), the bios reports 12gb (sometimes 8gb or 4gb!!) out of 16gb after restart. This strange behaviour does not occur at all when I choose a different speed such as lets say 2750mhz (even though that's overclocked). why is this happening? Do I possibly have a defective DDR4 memory kit?
The reason I suspect the memory is because I recently took both my CPU and motherboard to my retailer who tested and told me that both are functioning correctly. I would love to know the reason behind this if at all possible. I appreciate this readers and of course the wonderful GSKILL tech team and would happily provide ANY information you request
