  • 16GB PC3-19200 RipjawsZ DDR3 + Asus Rampage IV Formula on 2400MHz

    Hello GSkill members,
Yesterday I received my new system, some quick specs:

    G.Skill 16GB PC3-19200 RipjawsZ DDR3 SDRAM (2400MHz)
    Intel Core i7 3820 (Socket 2011, Boxed)
Asus Rampage IV Formula BF3 (Socket 2011)

After I build the system and started it up everything went fine, but I noticed in the bios that the memory was only running on 1600 MHz instead of the 2400MHz which the memory and motherboard are capable of.

I found that I could manually edit the Target DRAM speed so I put on 2400MHz. After changing that value I wasnt able to get into Windows 7 (64x) anymore because of a blue screen. The only option higher than 1600MHz and works without a blue screen is 1866MHz.

I have checked the voltages already, they are just around 1.65 which is stated on the label. I've also flashed the bios to the newest version without any result.

I hope you guys can help me get the system running stable on 2400Mhz, otherwise it would've been a waste of money to buy memory that's this fast.

I am thanking you in advance.

    Mitchell

    Edit: -------------------------------------------
Found the XMP setting, turned it on and it booted into windows just fine on 2400MHz. CPU-Z still reports a frequency of 1200MHz though..

1200MHz is correct, CPU-Z shows real frequency, not effective frequency.

real frequency (MHz) * 2 = effective frequency (DDR)

    1200MHz * 2 = DDR3-2400

I am a little surprise your CPU can stabilize DDR3-2400! Lucky you!

    Thank you
