  • F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2 at 1333

    Motherboard: Gigabyte P55A-UD3
    Processor: i5-750

I like the idea of low-voltage ram, but it looks like I'm a year too late, and selection is sparse for my board / CPU.

I don't really have want to overclock anything, I don't have time to worry about instability.

F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2 is still being sold, but it seems the i5-750 requires slight overclocking to run RAM at 1600 MHz. Would these sticks run at 1333 MHz, stable, with a minimum of fooling with voltages / timings?

Should be no problem, but check out this kit:

    F3-12800CL8D-8GBECO

It is designed for your motherboard, so the results can be very good.

Both list my board as "Qualified", is there anything special about the eco set?

The ECO are almost twice the price and higher voltage (though with better timings), and the same price as two sticks of F3-10666CL7D-4GBECO, which are designed to run at 1333 MHz. But four sticks may require higher voltage again.

Will I be able to run either of these at 1333 MHz and their rated voltage, without any further tuning? I'm replacing ram I had to run at 1.7v, and if I can avoid playing with VTT/QPI etc with the new set it would be really nice.

Definitely won't have to adjust QPI/VTT, the only thing you will need to tweak is the timings. Lower frequency should be capable of lower timings, so you can test to see what it can do. If not, rated timings can work fine as well.
