  • Need help with bios settings for crosshair iv

    My setup:
    16gb of the ripjaws x series ddr3 1333 memory
    Amd phenom ii x6 1100T
    Asus crosshair iv formula

I have tried each module in the first dimm slot and tested it with memtest86 (v4). In each case the test fails when I got to test 7. From reading on the net it seems this is caused by a setting in the bios. My bios is how it was out of the box and have no plans on over clocking anything. At this point I'm looking for stability.

Suggestions on how the bios should be configured?

    Thanks,

Test one at a time to see if one is bad causing problems.

    Thank you

You should manually enter your memory timings & voltage in your bios.

Running 4x4GB modules will probably require increasing the CPU/NB voltage.

        GSKILL Tech,
I tried each one at a time and still had trouble

        NemesisChild,
After reading other posts I was thinking I would have to to get 16gb to run, but it still fails with only 1 stick of 4gb. I assume the best way adjust the voltage is to do it a little bit at a time? Increment by .1 volts? Something like that?

        Thanks for the help!

Yes, or you can set the CPU and CPU/NB voltage mode to manual.
Then, you can input a CPU/NB voltage value, 1.25v is usually all that is needed and completely safe.
I just came off running the Crosshair IV Formula for about a year, I know it well.

The Crosshair V with the 990 chipset is an entirely different animal...lol

Forgive my noob question, but when you say cpu/nb voltage, you mean the cpu/nb offset voltage? Or do you mean one of the other values?

            Thanks!

You have to change the CPU and CPU/NB voltage mode from offset to manual.

Otherwise, if you want to work with the offset settings, then that's fine.
