  • RAM won't run at advertised timings

I just bought a set of 4GBx2 Ripjaws RAM (F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH) to use in my Asus P8P67 Deluxe motherboard (with Intel Core i7 2600k CPU). The RAM is rated to run at 1600MHz 7-8-7-24 @ 1.6V, but bios recognizes it and auto sets it to 1600MHz 9-9-9-28 and some lower voltage (1.4-something, I forget. I'm not at home to check).

When I try to manually set the timings to 1600MHz 7-8-7-24 and the voltage to 1.6V, my computer gets stuck in an infinite booting loop, where it will boot up, run for about 3-4 seconds, and then turn off, then try to boot again. Nothing comes up so there's no way for me to change the bios settings back. It will do this infinitely until I have turned off the PSU AND reset bios by removing the battery from the motherboard.

Am I missing some important step to getting the RAM to run at it's advertised speeds?

Did you try clearing the BIOS with the CLRTC button or pins?

Also, test one at a time to see if both pass.

    Thank you
