Case: Coolermaster Haf 912 Black Mid Tower ATX Case
Cooling: Corsair Cooling Air Series A50 Performance CPU Cooler

First question is are my motherboard and ram even compatible? According to NCIX(the website I bought them from) they are:
    http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=57...ture=G%2ESkill

Or at least the M$A89GTD PRO version.

But according to you guys, and the ASUS website, they aren't:
    http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=355

So my first question is, should I return the ram and try for something that actually is compatible according to G.SKILL?

Problem: The reason I ask this is because I've tried every combination of timings and voltages I've found on these forums for setups similar to mine, to no avail. After a few minutes, a few hours, sometimes even a few days, I will lose all audio and video output and the computer will freeze. I have to manually restart or shut down the computer, and upon boot up it says "Overclocking failed, press F1 to enter setup"

    I've tried:
    1333MHz 8-8-8-24 @1.5V and 1.55V
    1333MHz 8-8-8-24-2T @1.5V and 1.55V
    1333MHz 8-8-8-25* @1.5V and 1.55V
    1600MHz 9-9-9-24 @1.5V and 1.55V
    1600MHz 9-9-9-24-2T @1.5V and 1.55V
    1600MHz 9-9-9-28* @1.5V and 1.55V
    1067MHz 7-7-7-21 @1.5V
    1067MHz 7-7-7-22* @1.5V

    I've tried raising the CPU/NB voltage from 1.100V to 1.150V and 1.200V

Always the same problem occurs. Loss of audio/video output and the computer need s a hard reboot, followed by "Overclocking failed"

*The reason I tried 25,28, and 22 was because according to AMD Overdrive, those are the timings it states for the ram. Also, after the system fails, all timings are reset to 9-9-9-28, no matter the speed.

I've tried each ram stick separately in each slot on multiple different timings and voltages, always the same issue.

I'm running out of ideas here. I contacted ASUS and they told me to reset the CMOS and if the problem continued to RMA the board, but on their forums there are hundreds of other people with problems similar to mine, and they've said that the new board worked for a few days before the problem returned.

Any suggestions? RMA the ram and get more compatible ram? RMA both the RAM and board?

I'd be happy to answer any questions or try any solutions anyone might have.

    Thank you, Askevin

EDIT: I have updated to the latest BIOS version.

    bump!

Can someone at least confirm if the ram should be compatible or not? I think I'm going to send in the motherboard for a repair and exchange the ram for something that I know for sur is compatible.

The below are directly from the ASUS website and on the GsKill site, it states the RAM is for Intel.

You're on the AMD side, so I wouldn't think this RAM is compatible from what I can see..

I have the same motherboard and cpu setup (my 965BE is c3 stepping/revision if that makes a difference) and the same ram. The ram is compatible, I was able to "plug and play" at 9-9-9-24 @ 1600 running dual channel (in the black slots, could not fit one in the first blue slot because of the size with my cpu heatsink). Been running them for about 2 weeks now, so hopefully I won't run into any issues. I have not run memtest or prime on them, should I?

However I can not get a stable overclock nor the timings to tighten
But it always reverts to 9-9-9-24 @ 1600 just fine!
        I had 2x2g 1333 9-9-9-24 supertalent ram that easily oc'd to 1600 @ 8-8-8-24.
I may start a thread soon to get help tightening the timings on this ram.

The only difference I have is my CPU Offset Voltage is ~1.28, even have the same BIOS version. I've set everything else to the exact same settings. I'll update if I continue the same issues. Ty for the pictures

P.S. You said you have them in the black slots? I'll try that before I post seeing if it worked or not

EDIT1: Our CPU-Z information is identical as well.

EDIT2: Computer froze, dropping audio and video output in both the black and blue slots. I think I'm going to RMA the motherboard and ram for replacements, and hopefully the new parts work. Otherwise I'm out of ideas. Again.

I don't know if this will make a difference, but before I bought my gskill ram I had downloaded all the latest hardware updates from the asus support site. Spcifically I downloaded the usb 3.0 host controller driver, the JMicron JMB36X Controller Driver, and the latest ahci drivers.

I did this because I was having an issue where anytime I plugged something in a usb port it would seemingly cause the video signal to be dropped (monitor would go blank) and my computer would not respond. I read around and it was suggested to update all drivers as maybe it was a usb3 or other hardware driver conflict. I also disconnected my computer reset wire from the motherboard ( for the rest button at the front of the computer) as this was theorized to be causing a short when I plugged a usb cable into the front panel usb ports. See discussions here: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...ge=1&count=134

(P.S. disconnecting the reset wire solved my issue)

This is all stuff I did before I had the ram, but its just some other things to maybe try before RMA'ing everything.

I've heard of people having issues with the USB ports when they plug things in and getting the exact same problem as me, but since it doesn't happen to me when I plug in a USB thing I din't think much of it. I'll try updating all the drivers I can, since all I did was load the drivers that came with the CD, so it could possibly be an out of date driver. I really hope so.

                Thanks again, ccm001

EDIT1: Updated the USB 3.0 Host controller, JMB36X and JMB361 drivers.
Edit2: Nope, still froze, audio and video output stopped, after a restart timings were reset to 9-9-9-28.

Yup, I did indeed. Posted in that thread first but nothing worked that was suggested, so I made this thread.

Try RMAs then, surely something is bad causing this problem. There are definitely no compatibility issues.

Exact same problem occurred when I tried some competitors ram that I know for a fact works. Going to RMA the motherboard and hope for the best. Thank you everyones for your help.
