    Hello,

I searched the forums quite a bit yesterday. I had to pass on a great deal for the g. skill F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL.

I have an asus p7p55d-e pro mother board (Intel p55, socket 1156) and I keep getting hung up on the "specifically designed for Intel P67"

What is the criteria I need to meet for this motherboard, as all the newer g. skill rams don't show up in g. skills ram configurator for this motherboard? Also, what does "specifically designed for Intel P67" mean in technical terms? is it timing? cas latency?

    Thanks.

Well, that is more important for higher end models. For lower end kits, they can be used on all other platforms. The reason why we put designed for P67, is because the memory specs are for the P67. If you put any RipJaws X kit, even the DDR3-2200, enable XMP in a ASUS P8P67 motherboard, you're ready to go at DDR3-2200. Most people can't even overclock their memory this high, let alone have one setting to achieve that. This is the key benefit. So for someone that has a AMD dual core with a 785 chipset, they want to stay away from this kind of memory since their hardware can't even support it.

The key to buying memory these days is to make sure you purchase memory your CPU can support. The memory can be compatible/useable, but you may not be able to reach the memory's rated spec (Better memory than your computer can support). So sure you can purchase DDR3-2000 CL9 for an AMD dual core, but expect to operate it at DDR3-1600 CL7, or whatever the CPU can support. That's where testing and personal overclocking ability comes into play. But for most users that haven't overclocked ever, it is best to stick with DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600, which is what most do.

With your P55, it can support high frequency without a problem, so that 16GB kit should work without a problem.

    Thank you

thanks! I should have been brave and bought the memory.
