My computer:
.MSI 790FX GD70 (bios v1H 2011)
.Phenom II X6 1055T @ 3.25Ghz (250x13, 2.5ghz NB, 2.0ghz HT)
.2x2gb Adata 1333 CL9 1.65v (operating at 1333 6-7-6-16 @ 1.75v)
.Seagate 500gb 7200.12 (Firmware CC46)
.500watt 80%effi 12v single rail PSU
.Radeon 5770
Many of us know the memory bandwidth efficiency in Intel system is always higher than AMD. I have been trying to get faster operating memory bandwidth on AMD since four months.
One of my friends has a core i5 760 @ 3.2Ghz OC, and with 1333 CL9 he gets 19GB/s operating bandwidth. If I run at default 1333 CL9, I only get 12.7Gb/s (60% bandwidth efficiency) on my Phenom II X6.
Now I figured out that tightening the memory timing to 6-7-6-16 @ 1.75v and increasing NB frequency to 2.5ghz, I can reach to 16GB/s working bandwidth (76% efficiency of the total and the total bandwidth of 1333mhz is 21Gb/s") according to SiSandra Lite memory benchmark. and my current system performance is completely different than before.
I have seen many threads on internet overclocked their phenom to over 4ghz or even 4.5ghz to get memory performance like Intel. I don't want to make any world record, I only want to get higher memory bandwidth ( Up to 18GB/s to 20GB/s) without stressing too much to the Processor. Now I am trying to run at 1600 to experiment with but with my current memory module I can not even run at 1600 CL9 ~24/7.I know the voltage is very high (1.75v) for this frequency but this is the minimum voltage for my current Adata modules to run at this configuration for 24/7. Now I am going to buy new modules but confused what to buy. !
Most of the modules are made with intel memory profile for speed.
Example: Gskill 1600 6-8-6-24 with intel XMP profile.
Can our Phenom II x6 successfully support this type of modules, as you can understand AMD with tight timed memory can perform very well than default timing.
Please suggest me this types of rams for Phenom II x6.
