Memory Model: 3x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600mhz F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL
Motherboard: GA-X58A-UD3R rev.2 on newest BIOS (FE)
Processor: Intel Core i7-950
They are in socket 1, 3, 5 on my motherboard. They were working great, tested fine after 5 hours (6 passes) of Memtest. Today, when I booted, Windows registered only 4GB. When I tried to check the BIOS, the computer went through a POST loop, turning on, off, on off, but would not POST. I reset the CMOS and booted into BIOS to find that the stick in socket 1 and 5 were not reading, only one module was registered. I let the computer sit for ~5 minutes, reset the CMOS a 4th time, then it booted fine and all 12GB were recognized.
Note: I did not physically remove and reinstall the RAM, the problem occurs by itself, and has seemingly fixed itself, but it would be best to work out this stability issue.
I was using the XMP.
This cannot be a repeat. Is this a RAM problem or a motherboard problem?
