  • RAM Quandary

I have a PH II 555 BE that successfully unlocks to a B55 X4 and is as stable as a rock. Have it over clocked to 3852MHz on Auto voltage in a MA78LM-S2H with 4Gigs DDR2 800 and it?s screaming for a better home.

The home should be able to accommodate a Phenom II X6 in the future.
    I have chosen a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H

I wish to use the RAM now with the X4 and later with the X6.
Narrowed it down to the following but will accept any other suggestions.

#1 F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO This looks good at 1.35V, CL 7 and is on the QVL.
    Or
#2 F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH 1.5V with tight CL 6 but not on QVL.

I like the 1.35V and QVL listing on #1 and like the CL 6 on #2

For the X4, I will down clock to 1333MHz and tighten to 5-5-5-24 1T, or as close as possible, so #2 looks good for that.

For the X6, I will run 1600MHz and #1 looks good with a low CL7 and it appears on the QVL as having been tested for compatibility at higher speeds.

I really don?t know if compatibility at speeds over 1333 is a problem on the X6. If it is, I would choose #1 but if it?s not I would choose #2 because of the lower CL.

I would appreciate a little helpful nudge on this.

    Thanks.

You have the right idea for memory, but may be difficult with an AMD CPU.

CL5 is no way, hopefully it can take CL6.

The CL7 is a nice, cheap kit, so that is probably what I would suggest.

    Thank you

Yeah, I let the CL6 get in my eyes and lost sight of the fact that I would be using this RAM with 2 different CPU?s.

Choice #1 meets both situations and if I can get CL6 from it that would be a plus. If I can?t, nothing lost? I can?t tell the difference in a few micro seconds anyway.. LOL

Thanks for nudging me back to reality??.
