Well it's difficult to determine, you said both modules work fine individually, but have a problem together. Try memtesting the memory to see if they both pass. If so, it may just need the high density modules.

The only other thing to check is for the latest BIOS. You can also ask Dell to see if this is true, but I'm not sure if their support would know.

Yes, they work well alone, but not when both are connected at the same time. I have not memtested it, but I have ran Dell's own memory diagnostic utility with no errors at all. The modules passes all the Dell's tests.

I have also installed the latest firmware version for this laptop from Dell which is v A10.

I have sent the modules for replacement and see what the new ones have to say. Hope they work, because I really want this 8GB.

Hopefully it works, but if memtest cleared, the new kit will probably be the same.
