  • BSOD with F3-12800CL9D (4x2gb) and Asus Sabertooth 55i

standard windows mem test checks out fine, but the enhanced flags an unspecified problem and doesn't make it to events log. BSOD happens frequently, so I suspect it is a timing/voltage issue that the MB is assigning as default.

    What timeings/voltage should I use?

    Ram: F3-12800CL9D (4x2gb)
    CPU: 760 i5
    MB: Asus sabertooth 55i

    Thanks!

    Easy method:
    Enable XMP.

    Advanced method:
Or set AI Overclock Tuner to Manual. CPU BCLK 160. DRAM Frequency DDR3-1600, DRAM Timings tCL 9 - tRCD 9 - tRP 9 - tRAS 24, DRAM Voltage 1.50V. Once this is complete, everything should be fine.

    Obviously XMP is much easier.

    Thank you

Thanks. I will try that when I get home :-D

Is there any advantage to manual entry vs XMP for this specific application?

Sometimes XMP sets some things weird. It depends on how the BIOS likes the memory, but most of the time it is optimal. This particular memory should work well with this motherboard's XMP.

I used XMP wich also gave the same timings you recommended in manual. I still have troubles. I did the windows memory diagnostic and this turned up:

What slot do you have it installed in? Test each individually to insure neither are defective.

            Thank you

I have four 2gb sticks installed (every slot occupied). I'll test individually to see if the problem is isolate to a single unit.

              Thanks.

I think I found the problem stick.

                All pass the basic test
All pass in pairs. When 4 sticks are installed, there is failure. Shows failure at beginning and test won't complete
All but one pass the extended test. Test and won't complete
Been running with 3x2gb so far and seems fine. I think there is just one bad stick.
