    Hello!

I'm having a problem getting my board to recognize that my RAM is DDR3 1600, both my mobo and CPU-Z think that the stock speed is 1333.

What should I be using for settings for G(MCH) latch speed, multiplier, and CPU host speed?

    G(MCH) strapping: 400 Mhz
    2.00
    2.66
    3.33
    4.00

    G(MCH) strapping: 333 Mhz
    2.40
    3.20
    4.00

    G(MCH) strapping: 266 Mhz
    3.00
    4.00

    G(MCH) strapping: 200 Mhz
    4.00

My end goal is to push my processor to 4.0 Ghz without moving my RAM.

    E7400 2.8 @ 3.5Ghz
    Gigabyte EP45C-UD3R
    G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600 F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ
    EVGA GTS450 1024MB GDDR5
    ANTEC EA430 430W PSU

    Thanks G.Skill team!

Try both the 2.0 and the 2.40 straps as a starting point. These will allow you to push the FSB. On a side note I'm not sure that you'll be able to get 4.0Ghz out of that processor. I've ran several X38 and X48 boards with E8400's and they would usually top out between 3.8 - 4.0Ghz stable on water or very good air cooling.

In order to reach 4.0Ghz you would need a CPU Host Speed of 400Mhz and a CPU multiplier of 10.

      CPU Host Frequency 400.

4.00 strapping should give you DDR3-1600

      Thank you

This crashes my machine, even @ 2.8 ghz. Any idea why?

Post up pictures of BIOS to see if anything is set incorrectly.

DRAM voltage is set to 1.7 only in an attempt to try to get it to boot, i tried everything between 1.5 and 1.7, but didn't want to push it any further. Stock settings (Auto) didn't work either.

Leave the voltages you don't need to change to AUTO. Also, what are the advanced timings? Do you have the latest BIOS?

              Thank you

I'm telling you, that at 400+ FSB you are going to have to use the 2.0 or 2.4 strap and manipulate your FSB and CPU multiplier to get to where you are wanting to be (i.e. up your FSB above 400 and reduce your cpu multiplier to get at or near 4.0Ghz and massaging your RAM frequency). I couldn't EVER get a 4.0 stap to work reliably.

Haven't used this mobo in a while, but I do remember a problem like wevsspot stated, so you may want to try his suggestion too.
