  • F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ Cold Boot Blue Screen

    Hello,

I have been using two sticks of Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ with a GIGABYTE GA-790XTA-UD4 board and AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core processor and Windows 7 64-bit. I had been getting repeated cold boot blue screens on every cold boot of several hours or more. The stop errors indicated a wide variety of problems including memory.

In addition, I was getting unexplained registry corruption on boot. After tracing this issue potentially to the G-Skill Ram, I updated my BIOS from AUTO timing and power settings for the RAM to the settings specified on this site. This fixed the cold boot blue screen issue, but regular registry corruption on boot persisted (including corruption on the first reboot of a fresh OS install). I swapped the RAM for a brand new set of G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ and have had no issues (blue screen or registry corruption) for two weeks. Should I RMA the original set of RAM?

    Thank you
