F3-8500CR7S-4GBRL incompatibility with Dell Studio XPS 435MT

Hi all,

I'm trying to install three 4G memory modules in a Dell Studio XPS 435MT. (Eventually I'll probably be installing another three, to give it 24GB of memory.) The machine boots fine with two modules in place, but when I add the third, I get a double beep from the machine, which indicates that it cannot detect any RAM.

Is there a fix? Do I simply have to return the RAM and eat the restocking fee? Is there a way I can use this RAM?

Did you swap the third module with the second or first to see if it is a problem with the memory or something else? If two work fine, then the memory should be compatible.

Yes, I swapped them around. Any combination of two worked but having all three didn't.

Check to make sure you have the latest BIOS, otherwise I don't see why it would be incompatible.
