  • Checking for Compatibility for Motherboard and Rams

    Hi everyone,

Is the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula compatible with this particular G.Skills Flare series ram FLS F3-14400CL7D-4GBFLS? I just want to reconfirm with the gurus here before purchasing my motherboard today :3. I do know that the DDR3 2000MHZ series are compatible, just wondering whether it does too for the 1800MHZ ones. Many thanks in advance, please do advise me.

    Cheers,
    Mikiberry

      miki,

yes that RAM would be compatible - but please be advised there seem to be a lot of issues with Asus AMD based boards and various brands of memory.

i think that most of it may have to do with the way the Asus BIOS detects and sets auto timings, or if the RAM is XMP - the XMP profile.

i don't have any hard evidence to support this other than casual observation.

oh - and don't take this as bashing Asus boards - I use them myself
      MSI Big Bang xPower x58
      Intel i7 950
      GSkill DDR3 2000 6x2Gb
      Gigabyte GTX 460 x2 SLi
OCZ Vertex 2 SSD - OS Drive
      WD Black 640Gb x2 RAID0 - Apps and Programs
WD Black 1Tb backup and storage
      Corsair TX950W
Water cooling - Swiftech and DangerDen

Depends on your CPU, I used this combination with the 1090T yesterday and had 0 problems. Set memory frequency, timings, and voltage, and everything was 100% stable. ;-)

        Thank you
