  • 12GB showing as 8GB

    I have 6x2GB DDR3 1600 G.Skill sticks on a X58A-UD3R motherboard (with latest F5 BIOS) and Core i7 930 CPU.

I have loaded optomized default settings

All sticks are showing up in BIOS but total memory is listed as 8GB instead of 12GB.
This is in both BIOS and OS

I have had this problem before and an admin on this forum has provided me with correct timings and DRAM voltage which has resolved the issue.

So can someone please provide me with the correct timings and voltage for my system in order for me to get the full 12GB.

    Cheers.

Try testing each set seperately first to see if one may have a defective module.

I will try, but as i said all modules are being recognised.

This is happening on 2 identical systems. (i.e. 2 systems, both with 12GB Gskill each)

Enable the XMP profile to see if that helps. If not, send the memory in for new replacements. Please request to have the memory tested before shipping when you request the RMA number. These problems can happen when purchasing two kits instead of one single 12GB kit.
