MB: Asus Rampage Extreme

CPU: Q9650
In http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=233, it mentions that Asus x48 Rampage Extreme is supported.
Is it verified that Asus Rampage Extreme can work with such 4x4GB DIMMs (with 2Gbit chip I think) configuration?
Though both Intel & Asus say that x48 only supports up to 1Gbit chip & 8GB total in their datasheet & manuals, personally I have doubts about that because Intel also says 4 series MCHs support DDR3 up to 1Gbit & 8GB total memory, but almost all P45 DDR3 MBs I have seen support up to 16GB.
