  • F3-12800cl9d-4gbrl @ 9-9-9-24-1t?

Hey, just finished up a new build with a am3 955 black edition chip on a GA-880GA-UD3H gigabyte MB. I have seen several threads, including the sticky in this forum) about the memory controller not handling 1600 clock for ram. To no surprise my g skill 2x2g DDR 1600 ram (F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL) is unstable and crashes after just a few minutes when the clock multiplier is taken from the "auto" 6.6x to a manual 8.0x (1600.) Now here comes my question, my gigabyte board (according to cpu-z) is running the ram at 1333 with 9-9-9-24-1T timing; Gskill only rates this ram for 2T timing. Knowing that 1T gives better performance if my system remains stable is there any reason not to run 1333 with 9-9-9-24-1T timings?
    Thanks, Chris

Right, you can run 1T if it does not have a problem. For DDR3-1333, you can also reduce timings to 8-8-8-24 for slightly better performance. Or if you would like to run DDR3-1600, simply increase CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V and that should stabilize.

    Thank you

do you suggest trying to tighten to timings with the 1t rate and see if its stable or just go to 8-8-8-24-2T off the bat?

Go ahead right off the bat. Doesn't hurt to try, if anything, just revert it back to 8-8-8-24-2T
