  • Which memory for Overclocking?

Im interested in buying Gigabyte X58-UD7 motherboard, Intel i7 930 CPU and G skill memory. I eventually want to overclock the CPU to around 4ghz and was wondering what memory is best? Is it better to go for high frequency (2000mhz) or low latency (CL7)? I am considering buying Ripjaw F3-1600CL9T 6gb. Is this a good choice?

If you plan to overclock, then high memory frequency can be utilized, but you will need an aftermarket CPU cooler.

The RipJaws is a good choice especially for the low price. But, we do have many other high performance DDR3-2000 modules.

Take a look at this thread, it is exactly what you want to do:

I've considered the Tridents (as in the link you described) but unfortunately the tall heat spreaders are not compatible with the cpu cooler i wish to buy (Noctua NH D14)

Oh I know, I just want you to see the BIOS settings. Your settings will be similar too, so it's good to see an example.
