  • F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD shows only 4GB with DDR3-1600 6-7-6-18-1T?!?!

    Hi,

    This is on the second kit (advanced RMA) from Newegg. The first kit that was purchased last week had 1 faulty module, where with only that module installed in DIMM 1 slot, the system would not boot and the motherboard showed error code 68.

    I searched the forum and found a user had a similar issue and the only fix was to get another kit.

    At 7-7-7-18-1T, it sees all 6GB and can pass 25 Linx runs using problem size of 26K:

    Hope you could help me as the primary reason I bought the memory was to run it at DDR3-1600 6-7-6-18-1T.

    Thanks!

    Try raising the CPU VTT Voltage. Also, look into the DDR3 sticky, there is a thread about missing capacity.

    Thank you

      Hi

      I have tried raising VTT to +400mV (which is 1.6V in total) and changing the multiplier to 17X while keeping the BLCK at 201 (3.4GHz); the BIOS only recognized 4GB.

      I have also read that link numerous times, paying close attention to the 10 reasons. In fact I have tried reseating the CPU and verified that there was no shorts from the HSF backplate. Furthermore, I made sure the the HSF mounting did not have too much tension.

      Like I said, it could run 6GB stable (25 Linx passes) at 7-7-7-18-1T. For some reasons unknown to me, I could not get 6GB recognized with 6-7-6-18-1T, which was the reason why I bought the memory in the first place!

      Do you have any other specific settings/things I could try?

      Thanks,

        You can try raising DIMM DQ Vref and QPI PLL VCore a notch, but that's all I see that can possibly help.

          With these settings, instead of not recognizing 6GB all the time, it now sees 6GB intermittently:

          VDIMM = 1.675V
          VTT = +300 (1.5V)
          QPI PLL Vcore = 1.4V

          I didn't adjust DIMM DQ Vref as I didn't understand whether to increase or decrease.

          These should not have any problem with DDR3-1600 6-7-6-18-1T timing.

          My motherboard is on your list of certified/tested motherboards for this memory, so could you please verify in your lab the settings to be able to run at this timing?

          From my original post, there was one person who had the same issue. He/she changed to another kit and it fixed it. So do you think my second kit is faulty? The first kit I got, one module was DOA!

          Thanks,

            Not all modules are capable of 6-7-6-18, this is simply the absolute lowest for this module. It is not guaranteed, the module is guaranteed for DDR3-2000 9-9-9-24 1.60V

            Thank you
